The Farm Leage (Coach Pitch) is a non-competitive league. The purpose of the League is to introduce beginner players to hitting a pitched ball.  The following baseball rules are unique to KCLL's Farm League games.

Coach Pitch

  • Games are 1 hour and 40 minutes. Play will stop at exactly 1 hour and 40 minutes - even if in the middle of an inning. Teams must exit the field as quickly as possible to allow the next game to promptly start.
  • Score, statistics and win/loss are not recorded.
  • Batting order will change each game with each player getting to bat earlier in the rotation each game
  • Each player will get a turn at bat each inning (bat the rotation)
  • When the last batter puts the ball in play, the defense must remain in the field until the batter scores or is out.
  • Each player will play at least two innings in a defensive infield position
  • No player can sit out more than one inning, unless the player asks to be "rested"
  • Bases distance will be 50'
  • Two coaches in addition to the pitching coach are allowed on the playing field on defense
  • Up to 10 players can play defense (e.g. 5 outfielders)
  • A coach will pitch to the batter from a kneeling position and a distance that is at the discretion of the coach
  • A coach will pitch 8 to 10 pitches to a batter. If the batter has not hit the ball in play after 10 pitches, the ball will be placed on a tee for the hitter to hit.
  • It is incumbent on the Coaches of both teams to keep the game "moving" by having their players ready to bat and/or field - we want as many turns at the plate as possible in the alloted game time
  • Bases are tight. No base stealing.
  • There are no umpires in this League. Outs will be called by the defensive Coach nearest the play.

Modified Kid Pitch

  • At the beginning of each game, the Managers will meet and determine if each team is ready for modified kid-pitch.
  • Both managers must agree to this format, if not then Coach pitch rules described above will be followed
  • If both managers agree, the following rules will be followed for the game
    • A pitcher will throw to a batter 4 pitches from a distance of 40'
    • There are no balks
    • If after 4 pitches, the batter has not put the ball in play, a coach will step in and throw 4 pitches from a kneeling position
    • After the 8th pitch, the ball will be placed on tee for the batter
    • On offense, each team will bat their lineup twice in rotation (that is, each player will get at least two turns at bat regardless of the number of outs)
    • After each player has batted at least twice, play will switch to "three outs" or the rotation, which ever comes first.
